How do you reckon the tracking of time, years and age and such, works in Westeros? Since the first time I read, something seemed off about it. Especially since name day doesn’t necessarily equate to birthday.
The same way it does on earth? Years are not based on seasons.
What do you think will happen to Roslin Frey and her unborn child if Edmure is rescued from BWB, because I don’t think lady Stoneheart sees the difference between a rotten Frey or an innocent one (though that’s rare itself)?

The wealth from slaves in Essos would be too much for the Iron Bank to boycott(think of some of our banks with old ties to slavery). How would they justify this to the Sealord or Braavosi ? If not Braavos, what city is truly “free” in known Essos?
I don’t think the Iron Bank would trade in slaves itself, or lend credit to others to do the same. (For one thing, given the way that the Sealord came crashing down on the Goodheart, such investments would be highly insecure in Braavos)
However, lending to banks in Myr or Lys or Tyrosh or Volantis who might lend to people trading in slaves, or lending to ship captains who might later use their ship to transport slaves, they probably would do, on the grounds that they’re not directly involved in slavery.
Edmure has been shown to be a devoted and compassionate lord that deeply cares about his smallfolk. Given that it seems like a second red wedding is coming and that the bwb might rescue him from the Lannisters on their way to The Rock, what role do you think Edmure and his floppy fish will play in the endgame, if any?
I think Edmure’s job will be to try to pick up the pieces and keep his people alive in a terrible, terrible winter.
Do you think Aegon is capable of taking King’s Landing without the defection of a major Reacher lord (like Randall Tarly and his army up in duskendale)?
Maybe? If Dorne moves quick and combines with the Stormlords who stayed home, then he could roll up 35-45,000 men and take the city, especially if the High Sparrow sided with him.
Just listened through “Hamilton The Musical” and it got me thinking about the U.S. founding fathers. Do you have any particular person from the revolutionary era that your find particularly admirable or fascinating? Any strong opinions about any of the founding fathers?
I am Ham for Ham, no question. Probably my favorite musical and one of the best examples of how to make history relevant I’ve ever heard (still want to see, but tickets sold out until February…)
In terms of members of the Revolutionary Generation, I find myself fascinated by Thomas Paine who doesn’t get nearly enough respect for how revolutionary and genuinely modern his ideas were.
Why do you think the Targ forces outnumber Robert’s at the Trident? It seems that Robert should have more men since nearly all the Vale, most of the Riverlands, and some Northmen and Stormlanders are present while Rhaegar only has men from the Crownlands and Dorne, both of which are small regions population wise.
Yeah, that didn’t make much sense.
Do you think the great castles of Westeros would still retain their political significance once the gunpowder age hits the continent?
Significantly less. The Eyrie and the Rock would still be hard to take b/c they’re crazy mountains, but Harrenhal, Winterfell, Storm’s End, etc. would be much less viable.
Why would the Tarlys betray the Tyrells they seem the most loyal banner man they have?
