I think it’s a bad one. GRRM likes using Sansa as an unreliable narrator, whereas greenseer visions are very clearly depicted as such.

Do you think Jon, Ned, and Robert intended to attend Brandon and Catelyn’s wedding, but the return of a bitter winter scuttled that?
I think they probably intended to, and would probably have travelled there by ship from Gulltown and then transferring to boat up to Riverrun.
What’s your opinion of The Dark Knight Returns?
Not as good at TDK, but not as bad as some people have argued.
Would Tywin have had Littlefinger executed if he knew about his role in the murder of Jon Arryn?
Probably, especially if he found out that LIttlefinger had fingered the Lannisters.
If Robert’s Rebellion had succeeded, but Robert himself had been killed, who would have been crowned? Would the lack of a charismatic war leader like Robert Baratheon to crown have caused the kingdom to break up, reverting to how it was before Aegon the Conqueror?
1. Stannis.
2. No.
I think if you want the kingdoms to split, you would need both Robert AND Stannis to die.
Excuse me but there’s still Renley who was quite loved by the general public & was a good politician for peaceful times. Wasn’t he the brother running the government in KL anyway?
@winelover1989 fair point, but wasn’t renly a young kid by then?
If the entire Baratheon line had been killed, then they would have just traced up the Targ family tree until they found a suitable candidate. The best tie by blood I could see would be the Martells, the second best would be House Plumm.
Then again if Robert and his hatred for the Targs died with him, that would leave Ned, Jon Arryn and Hoster Tully the defacto leader of the rebellion, and they could just as easily invite Rhaella back to the capital with Viserys to take the place as King. Or if Ned found Lyanna, put Jon on the throne with a regent.
I could be wrong.
I’ve seen this scenario around the web in various places, but I don’t think it’s particularly plausible. Installing a Targaryen after you’ve overthrown and killed multiple Targaryens in the name of a non-Targaryen is a very good recipe for being executed when that Targaryen comes of age. However merciful Jon Arryn and Co. were, they were not blind to their own interests.
But that also assumes that the new Targareyen king would be loyal to the old Targaryens. Rhaella was abused by Aerys, and Visereys would be young enough to be molded into more acceptable to the rebels. And young Jon could DEFINITELY fit that mold.
It’s a bit fan ficy, but still not unreasonable.
Edward III wasn’t a fan of his dad, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to kill Roger Mortimer when he came of age…

Why do you think the Conningtons were punished so harshly after Robert’s Rebellion, while others, like the Tyrells and the Martells were just given a stern talking to and suffered some loss of favour, but left with their lands and titles intact? Might Varys have had a hand in this, knowing JonCon’s love for Rhaegar and thus his usefulness in putting his perfect prince on the throne?
Well, keep in mind Jon Connington’s punishment came from Aerys II for having failed to capture Robert. But as to why the House was punished more severely, I think it was a combination of Connington being a loyalist in exile and thus more dangerous, and the personal factor of Connington having tried to hunt Robert down in Stony Sept.
Of all the monarchs in Westeros’ history (part or whole, de jure or pretender), who do you think came closest to the ideal of ‘a knight who remembered his vows’?
Jaehaerys I followed by Aegon V.

Now that Bran II is out the door, I’ve got some fun stuff coming up. The elections essay has the quotes added to the outline and about 2 pages roughed out, Davos III is outlined but needs the quotes added, and there should be some more book book news towards the end of the month. In the mean-time, though, I’ve got more Tumblrs for your reading pleasure. ASOIAF: historical night attacks and Vlad…
