What do you think House Greyjoy’s strategy should’ve been for ruling the Iron Islands, besides reviving the old ways? It seems to me the first step would arrange marriages with either the Lannisters or the houses in the Reach. That would’ve ensured peace for a while. However, do you think they need to get a hold of some territory on the mainland?

Well, yes, that was the strategy of the New Way Kings of the Iron Islands. And one of the things that can come with marriages is land given as dower or dowry.

But in general, I would emphasize seaborn commerce rather than agriculture as a means of economic development.
