Do the Westerosi nobility think of people from the democratically-minded Free Cities as commoners?

It’s complicated. The elite of Essos are wealthy, politically powerful, and socially exclusive, which makes them a form of nobility in the eyes of Westerosi. On the other hand, their money comes from commerce rather than owning and taxing agricultural land, and the nobility tend to look down on merchants.
