The CBC project has been a fantastic analysis and my love for the material has grown tenfold! You made a point on how Eddard took more after Jon Arryn’s raising than he did the usual temperament of the Starks. Why do you think Jon’s influence on Robert isn’t as noticeable (he’s every bit as stubborn and self-indulgent as befits Baratheons; Stannis is the most duty-driven of his three bros). Well thanks very much!

I think there are some signs of Jon’s influence – the fact that Robert didn’t end up sending assassins after Dany and Viserys for example – but you’re right that there was less than in Ned’s case. 

My guess is that the show’s pilot had it right – “he was a good man, not his fault I didn’t listen.”
