Was Thor Ragnarok an attack on Western imperialism or am I reading to much into this movie?

If you’re reading too much into it, you’re not the only one…

Anti-colonialism is a major theme of the film, whether we’re talking about Odin’s benevolent paternalism covering up a legacy of conquest, Hela’s manifest destiny ideology, Valkryie’s complicated relationship to her past, Asgard as a place vs. as a people, and of course the end result of Asgardians becoming refugees looking for a new home.
