Why do you suppose the Hound was made Joffrey’s sworn shield, instead of, say, a member of the Kingsguard? Sure, Sandor’s a good fighter (probably moreso than most of Robert’s whitecloaks), but I would think his disposition would discourage his appointment to what is basically bodyguard duty.
