Are the giants and humans related in any way? would it be possible to inter-breed and make really tall children? are there any instances of this happening within the lore?

Well, there are plenty of examples in ASOIAF of people thinking that humans can breed with giants – Osha commenting on Hodor, John the Oak, etc. 

We don’t have any confirmed cases though…
