How long would it take for a line descended from second sons to fall out of the nobility?

Doesn’t seem to take that long. The Arryns of Gulltown are technically nobles but shunned because they married into trade, likewise the Westerlings despite their ancient heritage fell down the marriageability index after marrying into a house two generations out of trade.
