Better than it could have been? Yes. I think the five year gap would have been a grave error.
The news about the extra wait for Winds of Winter has actually left me pretty enthusiastic and hopeful on its quality. Just out of interest from a meta perspective, do you think the years needed to complete Feast and Dance led to more substantial and interesting writing that the first three books?
