Maester Steven, might I be permitted to add one more salient fact to your defence of the Dornish Treaty as a factor behind the Blackfyre Rebellion? (to be precise I would like to point out that it is not only memories of The Young Dragon breeding discontent, but also Aegon IVs TWO unsuccessful efforts – which I would argue might rouse an even more savage sense of unfinished business, given they are more recent and given the greater degree of humiliation involved).

As I described in the original essay, Aegon’s efforts added more fuel to the fire, as now there were men who had expected to lead the next expedition who were now out of a job come Daeron’s elevation.
