Could the strategic imperative behind the Battle of Redgrass Field have quite simply been the fact that Ser Daemon (or Fireball) wished to break Lord Hayford’s host before Prince Baelor was able to join with it?

That’s a tactical rather than strategic imperative, but I don’t think so.

I’m pretty sure Daemon was heading for King’s Landing like a wrecking ball.
