On the subject of Darkstar being an attempted child murderer, the Daynes would only have the Martels word on that, right? And the Prince of Dorne is pretty clearly covering up the involvement of his daughter in a plot against him and the Lannisters. What if Darkstar claims he attacked the girl on Arianne’s orders and is now being hung out to dry? The Daynes did not turn their backs on the Sword of the Morning for obeying the Mad King and his son after all.

Why would the Daynes of Starfall believe the black sheep of the family over their liege lord? And last time I checked, Darkstar wasn’t Arianne’s sworn sword and Arianne wasn’t anything more than an heir – he wasn’t bound to obey her orders.

The idea that Darkstar would be protected by the Daynes of Starfall falls apart when you remember their mutual distaste – there’s no reason for the senior branch of the House to protect the loose canon of the cadet branch, especially not considering all evidence really does point towards Darkstar being, you know, a psychopath and an idiot, who would consider murdering an innocent child as no big deal on the path to power.

Precisely. At the end of the day, the Daynes of Starfall care very very much about their own conception of honor. And Darkstar is a failed child murderer who has brought shame on the name of Dayne.
