Would anything have changed if Jaime had been vocal about why he killed Aerys?

His popular reputation might well have been different. Instead of being seen as a blackhearted villain, more of a tragic hero forced to choose between two oaths. 

Ned probably would have a different attitude towards him and the Lannisters.
