You mentioned that Duncan the Small breaking his betrothal would make him seem untrustworthy to the nobles, but haven’t you said Robb should’ve broken Catelyn’s arrangement with the Freys, and that it’s only his choice of whom he broke it for that was the problem? What’s the difference in these two circumstances?

Nobles would understand marrying 100,000 swords for the good of the realm, not marrying a peasant b/c of feelings.
