In TWOIAF it’s revealed that during the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion in 236 AC Aegon V had his three sons with him. I could understand maybe having Duncan along, who would have 16 at most and could have recently been knighted. But Jaehaerys was 11 and Daeron was 8; probably squires, sure, but it seems overly risky to let so many young heirs go to the front line (see: Aegon and Aemon Blackfyre). Did the authors simply not think about the ages when writing this or is there a better explanation?

It’s probably a timeline mistake, but it may have been a public relations statement, a demonstration that Aegon was putting the whole of House Targaryen into the defense of the realm. Sort of similar to the Earl of Warwick killing his horse before the Battle of Towton to show his troops that he was going to win or die there.
