Could the Disputed Lands’s reputation as a blasted heath be simply miscommunication? The last meaningful campaign there was during the time of The Nine, and that took place in winter or on it’s tail-end. Alternately: It’s poor reputation is propaganda used to debase the land’s value for the less hawkish nobility/merchant class of the vying cities. And that leaves it’s worth being quite literally disputed.
