Finally, would it make any sense to sub-specialize say the Flint Cliffs/ Cape Kraken (or any part of the north) for goats (cashmere goats for example)? like the gift has reindeer herds the middle of the north split between sheep for meat and sheep for wool and then the southern part of the North be for goats/ the cliffy part of the north for goats?.
Well, flint isn’t a very good building material – it generally was used in regions where there wasn’t access to good building stone. I’m pretty sure the flint is being used for firestarters atm, but that’s not really going to be a huge source of exports.
As for the crannogmen, that’s a bit tricky. Historically, the way to make fenland productive is to drain it to make it productive farmland – as was the case in the Lowlands. The problem is this sort of destroys their culture and part of the defenses of the North.
