I think the plan would have been to capture Tywin, force Tytos to either abdicate or name a Reyne as heir, and then turn around to Jaehaerys and say the Lannisters can’t keep the peace, only we’re strong enough to.
What do you think was the Reyne/Tarbeck endgame? Say they defeat Tywin at Tarbeck Hall. Do they just go to Jaehaerys and say “Hey we just killed your son’s best friend, make us Lord Paramount”? Do they appeal for some sort of special autonomy?
