Had King Aerys been allowed to go ahead with his mad plan of attacking Bravos, what do you think would have been the outcome ? Braavos has the biggest fleet, and their Arsenal gives them an edge in replenishing lost ships. But Westerosi naval power is nothing to scoff at, once you count the fleets of King’s Landing, Driftmark, Arbor, Oldtown and the Iron Isles, and Westeros probably has the edge in manpower. How crucial a role would the Iron Bank itself, & the other free cities have played?

I think it would be a lot like the Battle of Britain, with Braavos holding the home field advantage and being able to replace its losses, while Westeros’ manpower waits endlessly on the transport ships trying to get across the sea to Braavos. 

And I think Aerys and his government would be whacked by Faceless Men until the Westerosi got the picture.
