Would Baelor Breakspear have been as great a king as we are told?

warsofasoiaf:

Baelor Breakspear had wartime experience and a Handship going for him. He also stood up for Dunk and had good guy traits and tendencies from what we can see in TMK. So, yeah, I think he would have tried to be a good King — though in truth, I don’t know how well he would have been perceived since anti-Dornish feeling lingered after the 1st Blackfyre Rebellion. So, he might have met a lot of undue resistance to his rule on account of his Dornish looks and background.

Also, medieval and classical historians were fond of pointing out good men who could have led the empire/kingdom/realm to magnificence had they not been cut down before their time. Germanicus comes immediately to mind. Heck, in more recent times, JFK does too.

The JFK thing especially when you consider Baelor’s fatal wound…
